Our ‘Horizontal’ ‘Wiskaway’ King De Luxe differs
from the Victor ‘Vertical’ in that it can be used without the
counterbalancing springs supplied, in which case it does not need to be
fixed to the floor.
The King is supplied with a set of three flexible
rubber bedding retaining straps which are permanently attached to the
wall side and can be stretched across and hooked on to the outside of
the bed to hold the mattress and all the bedding - including the pillows
- in place when the bed is folded away.
To complement our ‘Horizontal’ 'Wiskaway' Wallbeds,
we offer a choice of medium or firm, 8ins. deep, De Luxe interior sprung
mattresses. We also offer a white wall shelf (see 1 and 2 above),
complete with two wall brackets, curtain rail and runners, leaving you
to supply the hooks and your own curtains to match the decor of your
room. We do not currently offer cupboard surrounds, or matching storage
units to go with our 'Horizontal' Wallbeds.
‘Horizontal’ Wallbeds are slightly less practical than
‘Vertical’ Wallbeds because they take up more space along the wall, are
somewhat more awkward to incorporate into cabinets and do not lend
themselves as well to use with a headboard. Also, as one side of the bed is
permanently positioned against the wall, double sizes are more difficult to
get into and out of for the person on the 'inside' and also to make up.
Having said this, there are situations where only a ‘Horizontal’ Wallbed
will fit (e.g. loft conversions with sloping roofs, some dining rooms, etc). Our ‘Horizontal’ ‘Wiskaway’® Wallbeds are available, on
a made-to-order basis, for the few situations where our ‘Vertical’
Wallbeds are not the most suitable.
Our ‘Horizontal’ ‘Wiskaway’ King De Luxe Wallbed is
essentially a sideways-folding version of our ‘Wiskaway’ Victor ‘Vertical’
De Luxe, features the same heavy-duty all-steel construction, automatically
opening and retracting legs, ten year guarantee and is
designed to be folded away fully made up with all the bedding - including
the pillows.
